Good Action Tripod Recommendations. Fair Price

Hello! I’m fairly new to photography and I was gifted a new camera for Christmas since I’d be taking a photography class. Turns out the teacher stinks and hasn’t taught me anything and all she does is make us do projects on some photographers and doesn’t really teach us how to take pictures but destroys us for not using what she “taught us.”

Anyways, I’m a huge fan of aviation and motor sports and I mostly use a telephoto lens since those subjects are usually very far away. I’ve been looking to see if there are good tripods out there but I really don’t trust many and they all seem cheap. I also don’t know what is a “good” tripod since I’m new to this whole thing. I’m really not looking for anything too big but I want it to be tall enough to clear fences on top of a truck and potentially even go really low for prone shots too.

If it’s any help, I’m 5’4 for reference and I am using the following for shooting:

  • EOS Rebel T7
  • EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II
  • EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III

Thank you for you help whoever you are and have a great day!

Greetings,

Take a look at B&H or Adorama.  Both have an excellent selection of tripods.  Material choices can be aluminum or carbon fiber.  Many tripods can be converted into a monopod and also have numerous configurations.  Pick one that will meet your height and weight requirements.  Something with an Arca Swiss head.  Read the reviews. I'm sure you'll be able to find something in your budget.

You may also want to consider a lens with greater focal length.  The lenses that you own now might present challenges shooting Aviation or Motorsports from a distance.
