EOS Rebel T3 not triggering ring flash

I have a EOS Rebel T3 camera with an attached macro ring lite MR -14EX. My issue that I'm having is that when I take photos at work (manul setting) the flash ring isn't going off. Any suggestions on how to fix this would be helpful!

Are you using a mode that disables flash or are you using M, Av, Tv or P modes. In those modes flash can be disabled in the menu. Does the ring lite’s screen say E-TTL or TTL.
