Advice sound recording - external microphone for Rebel T6 as webcam

Hello I am in the process of starting to use my Rebel T6 to record video content using the Vimeo application.  The sound quality from my mac isn't great and I wish to upgrade it using an external microphone.  Before doing so I thought I would double check whether these is any option for using an external micro phone with the Rebel T6? So far the only information I have found states that it's not possible to use an external microphone only the inbuilt microphone.  Many thanks for your assistance in advance!

The camera has a built in Mic.  There is no input for an external microphone, so you'll have  experiment with something you can connect to your MAC.  That will be any external mic with a 3.5mm connection.
