Note to admins/moderators: PLEASE DON'T SHADOWBAN OR HIDE THIS by sticking it behind my previous posts the way you did wth my last one. THAT DOESN'T HELP ANYONE.
I finally got my XF605 working with FTP transfer and other networking functions but along the way I've discovered some rather glaring discrepancies between what according to the user manual it should be able to do and what my real-world experience indicates it actually can do. To wit:
I should be able to use SFTP on port 22. Only FTP or FTPS on port 21 actually works.
The camera should be able to connect to my router either via Wi-Fi or Ethernet using either IPv4 or IPv6. Only IPv4 actually works. IPv6 has to be disabled.
The camera often can't even detect a Wi-Fi network broadcasting in the 5 GHz band. In order to get it to finally work with the moblie hotspot on my Windows 10 laptop I had to set it to broadcast on 2.4 GHz only. So no 802.11ac.
Since I've already sent the camera back once under the warranty and been advised upon its return to me that what I'm seeing is proper functionality, I must assume that everyone else using an XF605 is experiencing the same things. I am therefore hopeful Canon is at least considering a firmware update to address these issues and ensure we get our money's worth.
