Vixia HF R800 - touch screen controls displayed

I have the camera connected via HDMI to a video encoder. The camera is sending both the image and the controls which appear on the touch screen. How do I turn off the visibility of the controls on the touch screen?

I found it:

disconnect the hdmi cable

click touch screen settings (little house logo)

click other settings (tools logo)

click on settings tab (middle icon, looks like a series of tiny slider bars)

select Output Onscreen Displays - set to off
