Hello, I have a 270EX II. With brand new batteries I turn it on and the ‘flash ready’ indicator never turns green, continuously red and it will not test fire or fire on my camera.

any suggestions?

What camera do you use. If its an EOS DSLR the depth of field preview button can be pressed and the speedlite will produce modeling flash.

The flash should charge whether on or off a camera. Are you using alkaline or lithium batteries, not zinc-carbon cells?

If so, and it never indicates full charge, the flash is suspect. This model was introduced in 2011. May be failing.

When the flash is fully charged it will be red not green. Green means quick flash which means it hasn’t fully recharged yet.

Probably has a capacitor, it may have failed or a the unit itself has wiring issue.

This is a good option for replacement.  I picked one up this year.
