The Gap, a scenic ocean cliff located in the eastern suburbs of Sydney and infamous for suicides. Donald Taylor Ritchie, also known as the Angel of the Gap, was a World War II Royal Australian Navy veteran and retired insurance agent, rescued at least 180 people who had intended to attempt suicide at the Gap. He was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for preventing suicides.
