Sunset at Cowee Overlook, Blueridge ParkwayThis photo was taken at the Cowee Overlook on the Blueridge Parkway just outside Ashville, North Carolina.  Sadly, there will likely not be a return trip to the site this fall as Ashville and surrounding roads have been devasted by hurricane Helene. I am heartbroken about what has happened to this area of our beautiful country.

I live in SE TN and have traveled East Tennessee and the Western Carolinas many times. Blue Ridge Parkway is closed. Great Smoky Mountains NP is asking people not to visit. My wife reported that some NC communities are totally isolated so relief can't reach them.
