From this morning’s launch at Kennedy Space Center. Taken from the west coast of Florida (about 120 miles away; due west). Always thrilling to see a rocket launch. This was my first attempt to photo one from this location with my R6 M2. Set on tripod of course, RF 70-200mm f2.8 L I USM Z lens, f3.2 @ 1/6s, ISO 100 @ 200mm and 150mm respectively.

Very cool, I am amazed at the exposure time... I thought a faster exposure would have been necessary, but maybe the distance is something to consider here.
What is this that we can see in your picture?

Thank you for your compliment. The white “dot” is not a UFO, lol. It’s a star, possibly either Jupiter or Venus. Before the launch I set the lens to MF and used the same star to obtain focus at infinity as well as exposure (2s for the below pic as was still in the “blue” hour). Here’s that photo (zoom in and you’ll see another one above it at the 1 o’clock position):

Thanks, I thought it was a debris of sort falling off but better to learn that it was either a star or a planet in the distance. Actually I took my camera with astrophotography as something to contemplate, ain't going to be right away but eventually I hope to be able to experience this aspect of photography that is currently foreign to me.
Thanks again for the feedback. Great pictures.
