North America and Pelican NebulasNorth America and Pelican NebulasThis is a view of the North America (NGC 7000) and Pelican (IC 5070) Nebulas in the constellation Cygnus.

The North America Nebula is approximately 2600 light years away, and approximately 50 to 100 light years across. It occupies an area in the sky that is approximately 10 times the size of the full Moon.

The Pelican Nebula is approximately 1700 light years away, and approximately 10 light years wide.

This image was the result of 3 nights worth of imaging, and a total of 10 hours and 36 minutes exposure.

It was captured using an EOS Ra body and the EF 400mm f/5.6L USM lens, and associated associated astrophotography gear.

I really appreciate good astronomical photography and yours is an excellent example. I can absolutely see why each of these was so named!  Love the colours too.
