Blue-gray Gnatcatcher

TBB
Enthusiast

This tiny, neotropical migrant is constantly in motion, making it very difficult to photograph. Sometimes called the “Little Mockingbird”, it hops around in dense foliage, flicking its tail from side-to-side to scare up insects which it then chases after.  I photographed this one from my deck in Oklahoma.  My deck is about 12 feet high, with thisBlue-gray GnatcatcherBlue-gray Gnatcatcher maple tree just a few feet off the deck enabling me to be eye level with this bird.
