imagePROGRAF PRO-300 has error 5100 and cannot clear

Printer ProGRAF Pro-300

I recently moved to Israel and transported my Pro-300.  Since arriving, I consistently get error 5100.  The recommended clearing steps do not work.  I do not see any obstruction in the device.  However, when  the printer is turned on, the ink carriage does not move to the center as it did before I moved.  The power light is flashing.

Recommendation for path forward?  Thanks.

Hi bampolsk,

The 5100 error can be caused by a paper jam or foreign object inside of your printer.

To check for this, please follow all of the steps provided on this page from the manual:

PRO-300 series > List of Support Code for Error > Paper Jams

This error can also be caused by a smudge on the encoder.  Please follow the steps provided in this article to clean the encoder inside of your PRO-300:

Cleaning the Encoder (Timing) Strip - PRO-300

If you continue to have difficulties, please contact one of Canon's Technical Support Representatives via phone or chat. To contact a Technical Support Representative, please use the link below to log into your My Canon account:

After receiving the above response to my query, I looked at the printer again and can report that it simply does not look right.  I'm attaching a photo showing the internal of the printer with an odd appearing thick grey belt and the information block (external)brian's imagepro-300brian's imagepro-300

Please review and let me know what you think is the solution.  If it needs to go to a dealer for repair, can  you please direct me to a Canon service support center in Israel (preferably in the Tel Aviv area).

Thanks,

Brian Ampolsk
