Pixma Pro-10 issue

Hello all-

I hadn't used my printer for about 3 months and when I went to use it, it hadn't been touched or jostled during that time. I heard a loud clunk on the inner cavity and the error light came on and blinked 11 times. I checked for a paper jam and called technical serice and they told me to clean the encoder (timing strip) with alcohol which I did with no success. I also took out all the cartridges and reseated them with no better results.

It sounds like the printer head holder is trying to catch onto the metal bar it slides on with no success and makes a clunking sound.

Any ideas?

Hi mitch-h,

The printhead reads its position from the encoder.  When there is a smudge or dust on the encoder, the printhead will not be able to read its home position.  This is why you are hearing the noise.  Please make sure you are cleaning the whole length of the encoder.
