Canon PIXMA PRO-200S unable to bypass error code 1062

The instructions to bypass paper width detection on PRO-200S are not up to date, nor possess any support article.

The only option to detect paper width can be found on the menu itself; which, upon pressing "Det. paper width" setting to OFF, doesn't actually "bypass" the detection feature.

The detection feature remains on, regardless of ON or OFF. This is relatively easy to reproduce, as Windows OR Mac don't offer any way of setting it within the local drivers, either through IJ Print Utility or on the driver itself.

I strongly suspect there to be a firmware issue, as setting it on-device has no effect on the utility whatsoever.

To reproduce the issue:

1. Insert a problematic piece of paper. This can be done by partially defacing a piece of paper, especially if you are attempting to print something with a unique border already present on it.

2. Attempt to print with it with "Detect paper registration" set to off.

I have followed the Knowledge base articles for both PRO-200 and PRO-200S, which tell you to use IJ Utility and then presents an option that isn't present, as firmware version 2.20 has removed that from a local setting entirely.

Hi bad_printer,

On your Windows computer, please follow these steps:

1.  Please press the Windows key on your keyboard and the letter R, then let both go.

2.  In the Run window that appears, please type CONTROL and click OK.

3.  In Control Panel, click on View devices and printers.

4.  In the Printers window, please right click the PRO-200S and then left click on Printing Preferences.

5.  Click on the Maintenance tab at the top.

6.  Click on the Custom Settings button.

Does "Disables paper width detection when printing from computer" appear?  If so, please place a check in the box next to it and then click OK.  

Back in the Printing Preferences, click Apply (if available) and then click OK.

Once set, please attempt to print again.
