imagePROGRAF PRO-2100 out of ink after sitting idle for a while

I have a Pro2100 series large format printer. Bought it 4 years ago. Printed maybe ten times and then it sat for awhile. I just starteed to use it again. Im experiencing my printer telling me that I am out of ink. Questions I would like to ask...

THis is a brand new printer. Do the cartridges dry up after inactivity? If so, Is there anyway to reactivate the cartridges?

OR

Are the ink cartridges that come with the brand new printer only slightly filled? Has anyone run into this? I dont seem to be able to come by a customer serve number to call so I'm looking for help here. Anything would be appreciated.

Greetings,

The Pro-2100 has 12 inks that come in three sizes.  5.4 fl oz (160 ml), 11.2 fl oz (330 ml), and 23.7 fl oz (700 ml) .

The starter rinks are the 160 ml.

The inks could absolutely dry up after 4 years depending on the environment that they were stored in. I would suggest replacing the inks for two reasons.  One reason would be to prevent introducing ink that might be dried or clumpy.  The other would be to ensure optimal color rendition.
