scangear not responding

I have a Pixma MX490 printer/scanner and when I run scangear it just hangs (picture scan and document scan). I last used it a couple of weeks ago without a problem.

I tried downloading the latest from Canon but it didn't help.

Also tried running as administrator but no luck.

Are you running the new installer over the existing installation? 

I suggest you remove the existing installation, restart your computer, then run the updated installer.
