Use older software with new PIXMA G3270?

Hello everyone. I have  an older out of warranty TS3320 that is about to brick due to a full ink absorber pad. In anticipation of this, I just ordered a new Mega Tank G3270. It should arrive Friday 11/7/25. I have downloaded the  software for this new printer but haven't yet installed it. Can I use the older software that came with the TS3320 instead of the new software? I cannot use the Canon Print App on my iPhone as my iPhone is old and does not .support IOS 17. If I have to use the new software for the G3270, should I uninstall the software that came with the TS3320 ? I'm trying to get everything ready so that when my new printer arrives I can install it and and be up & running quickly. Thanks!

Greetings,

Unfortunately, print drivers are not interchangeable. 😄 These printers are completely different from a function, feature and Identity standpoint.  The Canon Print App (iOS) does require iOS 17 according to the app store.  Black Friday is coming, maybe it's time to treat yourself.  🙂

I suggest waiting until you have the new printer before performing the new install.

Start by removing the old device from your system.  If it's connected via cable, disconnect that too.  Now uninstall all software from your computer.

Important.  Restart your system.

Run the new installer.  If you use a USB connection, do not connect the new printer until prompted to do so by the installer.

For network installations, I would recommend assigning the printer a static IP address on your router.  This only needs to be done once.  In this instance, you'll want to make a manual connection to your network with the printer. Wired or Wireless is fine.  Once done, log into the admin portal of your router. Review the list of attached devices.  Now assign (reserve) the IP on the network.

Now run the installer.  You can download drivers from the new printer's support portal.

Hi Rick,

Thank you for very prompt and informative reply. I'll  follow your suggestions in the order you suggested. My router is adjusted online via the  web so I'm not sure I'll be to run the suggestion you made there as an administrator but I will see if it gives me that option. If not I'll try to reserve the IP address for the printer anyway. I have already downloaded all the software and the driver so it should be a pretty straight-forward process thanks to your directions. Thanks for your help. I really appreciate the detail you provided.

Take care,

Charley

Hi Rick,

I appreciate your help and I am glad my first experience with the forum was so positive. I'm not sure why my question and your solution are double posted here but it was probably due to my "Accepting As Solution" in the wrong place. Live and learn! Regarding your suggestion that I gift myself a new iPhone on  Black Friday-I guess my new printer will have to count as my "self-gift" now. I had planned on waiting until my old printer bricked before buying the new one but I noticed that one of the 2 places I was considered buying the new printer from raised the price by $90 so I jumped and bought the printer at the old price at the  second seller. Glad  I checked. Thanks again for your help. I will definitely look to the forum for any solutions to problems I run into going forward.

Take care,

Charley

Hi Rick,

More info. I found out how to reserve the DHCP on my router for the new printer. I practiced on my old printer and it worked fine. Plus I can edit the fields if necessary. Thanks for the tip.
