PIXMA MX922 -MP drivers will not install--no detection via USB

CHERI-THRASHER

I had to uninstall my Canon printer drivers because I kept having issues with the network connection and ended up with duplicate printer devices that all were malfunctional. This is probably because I just got  a Wifi Mesh system and might have a double NAT problem. Either way, I was trying to clean this problem up and uninstalled all my old software and went to reinstall. Now I cannot get the "mp68-win-mx920-1_01-ea32_2.exe" program to recognize my printer via USB. It will not install the MP drivers but ALL the other downloads worked fine and I can print just fine. But I cannot get the IJ Scan Utility. It's not on my computer, and I can't find the download for it anywhere. It's supposed to be in the MP file but that one won't complete it's install. It won't detected the printer via USB or LAN. I've tried many different ways.

Hi,

If your Canon PIXMA MX922 printer isn't being detected via USB and the MP drivers won't install, here's a step-by-step troubleshooting guide to help resolve the issue:

🔌 1. Check USB Connection
Use a different USB cable and try another USB port on your computer.

Avoid USB hubs—plug the printer directly into the computer.

Try another computer if available, to rule out a hardware issue with the printer.

🧰 2. Uninstall Old Drivers/Software
Go to Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a program.

Remove anything related to Canon MX920 series or Canon MP Drivers.

Reboot your computer.

💾 3. Download the Correct Driver
Download the latest MP Drivers for your OS version from Canon’s official website:
Canon PIXMA MX922 Drivers

Make sure you're selecting the correct Operating System (Windows 10/11, macOS, etc.).

⚙️ 4. Run Driver Installer as Administrator
Right-click the downloaded .exe (Windows) or .pkg (macOS) and choose "Run as administrator".

Follow the installation prompts with the printer turned on and connected via USB.

🧪 5. Check Device Manager (Windows Only)
Open Device Manager (Win + X > Device Manager).

Look under "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" or "Other devices" for an unrecognized USB device.

If it shows as “Unknown Device” or with a yellow warning, right-click it > Uninstall > unplug printer > plug it back in.

🔧 6. Use Canon’s Driver Cleanup Tool (if available)
Canon sometimes offers a tool to remove old or broken installations. If available on their site for the MX922, download and run it.

📶 7. Try Wireless Setup (as a workaround)
If USB is failing and time is tight, consider setting the printer up wirelessly:

Use the Wi-Fi setup on the printer screen.

Then install drivers and choose “Connect via Wireless” during setup.

Would you like help finding the exact download page for your operating system?
