Ix6820 / WiFi / Mac Mini / Catalina -- Can't add printer

GoodEyeGal

HELP PLEASE!!!  I have a Mac Mini later 2014 model running Catalina 10.15.7vand a Canon iX6820 that need connection.  The printer says it's live wirelessly, but I can't add it in System Preferences.  I've recently updated my router & modem from my ISP provider, and at first could not print from either printer.  Got the TR7520 multifunction reconnected, but my SysPref will not let me add the iX6820.

This is what happens:  System Preferences > Printers & Scanners > hit + to add and the window will not let me add the printer.  When I type in the name in the search box and hit return, nothing happens.  I cannot enter text into any other place in the window.

Please help -- I have art project deadline/major event coming up and I need the 13"x19" capacity of the iX6820 ASAP!

Thanks a bunch 😃

I worked and worked every angle I could, and finally solved this myself.  Disappointed that I didn't get any timely help, but thanks for trying.  I found help from my local MUG group.

Greetings,

Drivers for your printer do exist for Catalina:

Support | iX Series | PIXMA iX6820 | Canon USA

It might be best to confirm that the printer is in fact connected to your new wireless router.

You can do this by logging into the routers admin portal and confirming the connection in "Attached Devices"

Once thats confirmed, you can reinstall the printer using the driver.
