I am new to digital photography and a geezer (82 yrs). I recently bought a SX 260.... love it but the manual is a bit formidible and threatening. . Can't seem to find out how to open the lens for extended time exposures of say, 10 - thirty seconds. Can anyone help? I like to shoot lightning flashes and the only way I know how to do it is to mount camera on tripod and open the lens for a bit.
I know I will feel old and dumb when the answer is revealed.

Sconticut,
The shutter speed can be set as low as 15 seconds. You will need to use a mode that allows you to manually set the shutter speed, such as the TV (shutter priority) ot the M (manual) modes.
If this is a time sensitive-matter, additional support options are available at Contact Us.
