The camera can only be turned on by removing and putting back in the battery. Upon turning on it tries to connect to a device, and says "Searching for access points".
the only way to get it to go to camera-mode is by pressing the shutter button.
Does anyone know why this is or how to reverse this?
I want it to turn on and go straight to camera-mode. But the On/Off button only works to turn off the camera once on.
Additionally, when you do some things, the camera screen just turns black and the camera essentially powers off. The only way to do anything after that is to remove and replace the battery. Thanks!

Try resetting the camera back to factory defaults and see if that helps.

Unfortunately, that did not help, but thanks! It is very strange that the off button turns the camera off, but pressing it again doesn't turn it back on.

Try turning off Wi-Fi in the camera and see if the searching for access points message goes away and maybe solves the issue.
