PowerShot V1 file name numbers?

Hi everyone, I recently bought a new Canon PowerShot V1, put my old SD card in it and took some photos and videos. After some time, I changed the SD card to a brand new one. I briefly used this new SD card in another new camera, took some photos and it created fresh file names like IMG_0001, 0002 etc. But after I installed this new SD card into my PowerShot V1, I noticed that the file name numbers are much larger (like IMG_1430 for example). I don't know if it's because I originally used an old SD card with old files on it and the camera picked the number order from there and saved it, or if it's the camera's own behaviour. I formatted the old SD card soon after installing it into the PowerShot V1 so the old files are gone and I can't check the numbers for sure but the most recent files I have saved on my PC from that card have pretty close numbers (DSCN1392, though they are DSCN, not IMG_, because I used this old card in a Nikon camera).

So, I have two questions:
1. Is there a way to check for sure if it's because I used an old SD card or because my camera is actually not new?
2. Is there a way to reset file name numbering? I tried formatting the SD card, resetting the camera to "Basic settings" and "Clear entered information" in "Manage password" (which supposedly does the same as "Basic settings" plus resets the password), none of that helped.

Thank you.

I'm still not 100% sure that those large file name numbers were because of my old SD card or the camera itself but I'm leaning toward the SD card.

I found the solution for my second question, maybe it will be useful for someone.
I went to the yellow menu section > File/card setting > File numbering and first did the "Manual reset" (probably not needed), which created folder 101, in which the files started from 0001, I took a couple of photos to confirm that. Then I switched the "Numbering" to "Auto reset" and then formatted the SD card. After that I took a new photo and it got the 0001 file number in folder 100.
