Hi, i have an old PC1060 and when i turn the camera on there is a black screen and a message "memory card error". I don't think it's a screen problem because when i open the settings the screen works normally, so i was wondering what could be the problem? thank everyone for the help.

Is there an SD card in the camera? Take it out and put it back in. Try again.
What size is the card? This 23-year-old camera will not like large cards. 8-16 GB is more than I'd use in it. Smaller, even.
Do you have another card?
Then again, the camera may have just died.

okay I've tried with a 128MB sd card and now the message is gone, but the screen is still black 😞 I'm starting to lose hope on this camera.

It's very possible the camera is a goner, much as I like making use of old ones myself.
Do you have the manual/User Guide? Here is where to get it:

Look at pages 31-40.
You say that Settings screen show up but nothing else? If there's no viewing display? How about playback after taking a picture? If settings show, but not viewing or playback, I'm afraid you're out of luck.
