Setting the Date/Time is done through the menu.
If the Date/Time is appearing when you start the camera, and it does not hold the inforamtion once you turn off the camera, then you will need to replace the Date Battery. This is a CR1220. Make sure the camera is turned off, then open the cover over the cable connections and pull out the battery holder at the bottom of the connections area. Replace the battery in the same direction as the old battery. Put the battery holder back in the camera then turn it on. Set the date/time when the menu appears.
The date/time also can be set in the menu by pressing the menu button, then looking under the second menu list., the one with the tools icon.
I have the A510 and have had to replace the date batttery several times. Great little cameras! Let me know if this does not answer your queston. The link for the A510/A520 manual is http://gdlp01.c-wss.com/gds/7/0900011217/01/PSA520510CUG-EN.pdf. Look on page 137 for the battery replacement and on page 22 for setting the date/time.
