Well today just about everything you buy, you charge by connecting a charger direct into the item, ie; phone, iPad, games etc and not everybody realises that there still some things which require the battery to be taken out and charged separately, this is what happen, the charger was connected to the USB connection, which is only supposed to be used for transfering, not charging. The battery is to be removed for charging via external charger... I can only assume that having the charger attached has cooked the insides....
