Canon's website indicates that you can charge the battery for a PowerShot SX740 HS while in the camera using an interface cable and a compact power supply. I have not been able to get this to work. The cable will connect to the computer and allow me access to the pictures and charge the battery so I know the cable works with the camera.

Hi dmkempf,
You could try to chage the camera with the cable and a mobile phone charging head. It should woek.

How many amps can the "compact power supply" provide?

Thank for relying. I did reach someone at Canon who confirmed that you cannot charge the battery while it is in the camera. I just made sure I had more than one charger.
