lp options ignored after first page

Hi,

We are a university and we have deployed a few Canon color printers (C 5560i), using the driver CNADVC5550X1.PPD.

We are experiencing a very weird issue when printing from command line, with "lp". When printing with more than 1 page per sheet (-o number-up=2 for example), some options like duplex, color, or stapling are ignored after the first sheet.

Here is an example to illustrate:

lp -d print1 -U username1 -o fit-to-page -o Duplex=DuplexNoTumble -o sides=two-sided-long-edge -o number-up=2 -o number-up-layout=lrtp -o ColorModel=Gray -o InputSlot=Tray3 -o StapleType=StapleON -o StaplePos=1PLU Test.pdf /Test.pdf

This should result in:
- 2 pages per sheet
- Duplex
- Gray scale
- Stale in the top left corner

The problem is that of these 4 options, only "2 pages per sheet" is kept after the first sheet is printed. All the other options are ignored after the first sheet is printed. So, from sheet 2 to end, it's one-sided, color, and no staple (funnily, the printer puts a staple on the first sheet getting out).

Do you have any idea?

Thanks for your help.

Best regards,

Loïc Gardiol

We found that it's a bug/incompatibility in the version of Cups we are using (1.4, the last available on RedHat). Launching the same lp command from a Mac running macOS El Capitan (Cups 2.2) works.
