Hello,
I have an ImageClass MF743Cdw. When trying to scan to email it always reports Error 753. Below is what I have tried so far
* I have read every post I can find on how to properly configure the scan to email function
* I have reset the printer multiple times (Menu/Management/Initialize All Data..)
* I have tried Wireless configuration
* I have tried Wired configuration
* I am using Gmail, configured with App password, tried both ports 465 & 587. Same error 753
* I have powered down the printer for 10 minutes at a time through each step
* I can access remote UI, scan from PC app, print from PC app
* I have verified that I can send through gmail (router has ability to send email notification and I have configured gmail smtp & able to send successfully)
I am at a loss. Is there a reset procedure I am missing?
Regards,
Michael

Greetings,
Error 753 indicates the intended connection type is not configured properly.

Hi, thanks for the reply.
I do not have both wired and wireless connected at the same time. Currently, I have configured wireless, the printer has acquired an address and shows the correct DNS address also

I have the exact same problem and have tried a hundred combinations, resets and what have you. This product's software design is cumbersome and poorly thought out.
EDIT: after multiple failures I realized that error #753 given by the device was completely unrelated to the issue which I've fixed by playing with SMTP server configuration.

Same situation here. May I ask what SMTP server configurations you have played with?
My journey has taken me from:
0. I moved the printer from one room to another room
1. Then it all began with a couple of error 802s due to an IP address issue (the printer kept setting itself to 169.254.196.144 despite the my router's IP reservation on 192.168.1.X). I started to play with SMTP settings (which I should not do...).
2. The error code switched to 753 afterwards. I restarted the printer a few times.
3. Got two 099 then another 802. I started to play with SMTP settings even more. How silly am I...
4. I rebooted my router
5. Kept trying and kept getting 753 until I saw your post. I went back and found out I mistakenly unchecked the "Use TLS for SMTP" option 😅
I should have trusted my gut feelings and doubled down on solving that weird IP issue first. It turned out to be a router glitch. When the printer is unable to obtain an IP address from the router, it sets itself to that 169.254.x.x address, which has prevent the printer to correctly communicate with the internet hence the 802 error.

Greetings ,
Let me find the tutorial I created. I'll repost here. Give me a couple of minutes.
See my screenshots in this thread.

If you have question, please post them here. Your printer works just like a mobile device or email client on PC.
You need a sending server
username
password
port #
encryption type
The entries will depend on the mail host you use. Gmail.. M365, yahoo, comcast.. spectrum... etc.

Thank you for your reply. But the problem was actually Canon printer’s incredibly misleading error codes 😂
