It's hard to figure Canon out. They make excellent hardware, and I am very impressed with especially the breadth of Remote UI of the 656. However, despite the hundreds of pages-long owners manual and the long and seemingly comprehensive online manual, they both tell you very little other than repeating that the options are there. There is no Canon source that I can find for an explanation of the myriad of choices available in the Remote UI, or when and how to use them, and nothing about how those selections affect or interface with the Windows or Mac printer drivers. It's a shame, because their printers can likely find more customers and more uses if they would provide some clue as to why they provide each option in the remote UI, as other manufacturers do. And their toner cartridges, which are the only ones I like to use, are too expensive to be printing bushels of test pages.
