Canon MF656cdw won't accept local computer names

In my network DHCP is set up to frequently change IP's of computers. I tried to set the FTP scan to "COMPUTERNAME.local" in the Addressbook but the scanning fails. If I enter the current IP of that machine (192.168.77.138) in the Addressbook, it scans fine.

Does this accept the computer.local address's?

Greetings,

According to the manual, it wants you to use an IP Address for the FTP Server.

For an FTP server
Enter the IP address of the FTP server (e.g. "192.168.2.100").

Registering Destinations from Remote UI - Canon - imageCLASS MF656Cdw / MF654Cdw / MF653Cdw / MF652C...

Review step 6, 3rd option

This is super easy to resolve.  Here is an example:

shadowsports_0-1717164338902.png

As you can see I have limited my DHCP pool.  I am using a slash /24, so I have 254 IP addresses.

Addresses 192.168.1.2 ~ 192.168.1.99 for my use

DHCP Address Pool 192.168.1.100 ~ 192.168.1.150

Addresses 192.168.1.151 ~ 192.168.1.254 for my use

My servers, NAS Devices and printers sit in the lower range.  Adjust accordingly.  There is nothing magic about defining a range of IP addresses you will probably never use.

Greetings,

I use a hostname.  I have not tried a FQDN.

So this works with IP address:

The following using Host names do not work (and I have tried both lower case and upper case SSD-GRUE):

No 1.jpgNo 2.jpg

The FTP server settings are:

FTP Srvr.jpg

FTP Clients can successfully connect with the following settings:

FTP Clnt.jpg

So what am I doing wrong?
