with the EOS Rebel T7 I would recommend sticking with 32GB SDHC SD Cards. Cards bigger than that often times have problems with cameras locking up. Or issues with cameras hanging for some reason. Even though the manual says it’s “Compatible” it’s not any has various problems. Also stick with Full Sized SD Cards. Micro SD Cards in an adapter are nothing but trouble. The card you have can work but as I just said you may face compatibility issues.

jbrooksphoto,

SD cards are probably one of the most important accessories you can choose.  They are the smallest and most confusing accessories to choose for your digital camera.  For instance, there seem to be dozens of Sandisk SD cards that have the same capacity but different labeling and slightly different specs out there. For instance, I've not seen one like the one in the photo you posted but have a Sandisk 64GB SDXC card that I use.

I had a Rebel T7 and found it to be very resiliant with regard to SD cards.  I did so before knowing any better and before following the advice imparted on this forum.  I used MicroSD cards with an adapter, an ONN SD card from Walmart (worked well and still does) and 64Gb and 128Gb SD cards without issues (maybe just lucky).  Now I primarily use 32Gb SDHC cards and swap them out as needed.  With every card I use, I do a Low Level Format  (see page 52 of the manual) the first time I put the card in the camera.

That said, Demetrius's advice is good advice and I suggest you follow it. Here are my recommendations for buying and using SD cards.

  1. Used only full size SD cards, not MicroSD with an adapter
  2. Use only name brand cards (Sandisk, Lexar, etc.) that were purchased from a reputable source, probably avoiding eBay and most Amazon marketplace sellers (not sold and shipped by Amazon).  I've bought both Lexar and Sandisk cards from Amazon and Lexar cards at an office supply store.  Walmart also sells Sandisk.
  3. 32Gb SDHC cards will hold a lot of images.  If you shoot in JPEG it will be thousands of images and and over 500 photos if you shoot in RAW.  A 3 pack of 32Gb Lexar SDHC 800x Pro cards (blue label) is currently less than $25 at Amazon. Lexar has been my "go to" card brand others may have a different preference.
  4. Offload your photos from the card often.  Consider an USB-C SSD drive or cloud storage as an option.
  5. Swap out and format your cards every so often.

Hope the above helps!

Regards,

LZ

Another strong consideration is that BIGGER is NOT BETTER! Anyone who keeps so many photos on their camera that they think 64 GB or larger is great are making a big mistake. If a card fails, which they DO, you lose everything.

It is much preferable to move your photos to your computer and external storage. Then format the SD card in camera. Use multiple cards if out shooting a lot. A 32 GB SD card will hold THOUSANDS of photos. So will a 16.

Don't entrust too much to a single memory card.
