Need help finding a good beginner camera

I need help finding a decent camera for my wife. She's wanted to start working with a friend who is a photographer and I want to get her a decent camera to learn on. Without breaking the bank of course. It doesn't need to be supper fancy just good enough to teach her the basics and how to work the camera to get what she wants. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions.

Greetings,

Can you please provide us with a budget?  This will help us to make meaningful recommendations.

I'm trying to keep it under $1000. I don't want to spend a lot on one in case this turns out to be one of those times where she wants to do something but doesn't commit to it fully and gives up. She literally just found an eos r7 on fb marketplace that she sent me

If you don't want to invest in something you're not sure she will use, buy a used camera, from one of the good, big used dealers.....MPB.com, usedphotopro.com, or KEH.com.

ANY digital camera, DSLR or mirrorless, will do a whole lot more than just the basics. There will be a learning curve for her. Does she know ANYTHING about photography yet?
