my canon t1i will not power up. i have new charger, new battery(ies). took it to a camera shop and it came on with thier good battery. brought it home and it does nothing. checked batteries with voltmeter. has anybody ever gone through this? thanks for any info.

Get a new original Canon battery. Get rid of the off brand batteries. You may need a new charger, too.
BTW, you can not check batteries with a voltmeter. A voltmeter doesn not load the battery.

With both a new charger AND a new battery you'll probably need more testing to determine what's at fault here... but the fact that it powered on with the camera store's battery seems to be a strong indication that the camera isn't the problem.
It's possible the charger is not really charging the battery. It's also possible that the charger is fine and the battery just wont take a charge.
Do you get any sort of indication that the charger is working?
