Zoom slider not working on camera connect app

Have latest version of camera connect app on my galaxy s8 phone, but cannot activate the zoom slider feature (for T6 camera) any suggestions?

Canon lenses, with one exception, cannot be remotely zoomed.  The lens focal length must be manually adjusted.

Thank you! That makes sense. At least the AF feature does work through the app.
