Is this really necessary? Is there a bypass to avoid entering a password? If not, and if you find or steal my R5 or R5 Mk II, try 999999.

Thanks for pointing this out. I had not realized that the "Reset" option function was available and what it did. I saw the password screen once when I entered the initial password and then immediately disabled it. The Canon Level 2 Tech Rep did not even mention this during our phone conversation. He did not seem to know how it worked either. So, the only impact of forgetting a password is to have to re-customize your setup. That's not a big deal! Thanks so much for the clarification.

The question I have is that if you save your setup to a SD card does this include the password when you restore if you have to do reset?
