R5 MK II Hot shoe issue and EF-EOS R Adapter drop-in filter fit

I just got back from a month trip to Tuscany with my brand new R5 Mark II and a CF Express card filled with beautiful images... This camera is really impressive on many levels.

I did however experience two issues... First, the newly designed hot shoe cover was impossible to remove at first.  It did get easier after a few cycles but soon it started falling off until finally, it was lost.  I'm not sure why this piece was redesigned with a part that costs eighteen dollars to replace so needless to say, I'm disappointed.

The other issue I had was with the EF-R lens adaptor...  I ordered the version with the drop-in filter thinking that I could use the filters from my EF 400 f/2.8 telephoto lens but sadly, these do not fit.  The new lens adaptor uses a substantially thinner filter which meant that I had to fork up another $330 for another polarizer that fits.

I guess there is a lot of profit is selling these 'new' items, eh?  Has anyone else experienced these issues of am I just out of it these days?

Because the adapter is *between* the lens and the body, the thickness of the adapter is fixed, which constrains the thickness of the filter.
