Hi Everyone,
I'm having an issue with my new R5 while filming video and using the built in mic. There are loud pops that are recorded in the video clips, the kind of pops you hear as if you plugged in a microphone while recording (just individual ones and no static, see videos at the bottom).
They appear to be random, and there maybe 2 to 4 on a new 10 second clip. Sometimes there are none, other times one. The pops can happen when the camera is stationary and not being touched, I had placed it on my desk and hit record and a 2 seconds in there was a pop. But most often they happend when holding the camera (buts thats also been the majority of my testing so far).
Initially I thought the microphone sensetivity was too high so I turned off Auto and set Manual at 75%, with Windcut and Attenuation set on, but the problem persisted. It also is happens when the sensetivity is lowered down further to 50%. I still need to test at a sensetivity of 25%.
I've also tried different lenses, the pops happen across the board with all lens I've tired. The below clips are a mix of RF35mm, RF24-105mm, and Tamron 70-300 SP.
I've not yet tried an external mic, so I'll be testing that also to see if its just the internal mic with the problem.
In the meantime, can any one else check if their R5 built-in microphone produces any loud pops in the video clips?

I've been using the new R6 and the pops are gone magically. Maybe it's just temporarily gone.
Actually, I have everything turned on. Wifi, Bluetooth, GPS, full image stabilization, etc.
I use the 1.3.1 from day 1.

I'm getting this issue as well on some video clips but I can't reproduce the issue consistently on the R5. Is anyone else still getting this issue and has there been a fix? I'm not sure if user error or something wrong with hardware or software.

I'm still having it with my R6, but not consistently either.

My replacement R6 has not had any popping on the left channel. Maybe two or three times there was a noise on the right channel, but it's possible I bumped something with my hand.

Just a quick note to say that I am experiencing this issue on my R5 as well. It does not happen on every video, I'd say around 50% or so. Sometimes I'll take two videos and one is fine and the other has the popping noise. I've tried turning AF off, etc. but it still seems to happen intermittently.

Just chiming in to say that I have the same problem with my R5
This thead is the only one I find on this issue, and as it's only 4 pages long, I find it likely that this issue is confined to a rather limited number of units. From what I read in this thread it seems like the only fix is to get at replacement camera. Is this really the case, or was it just the easy way out for some of you?

I exchanged my R6 since I had just bought it. My R5 pops occasionally but I use an external mic a lot of the time, which solves the problem. Who knows how widespread it is. I bet a lot of people only shoot stills.

Here's another quick update, I've caught my replacement R5 also generating a loud pop in a recent video. I checked the volume levels and they didn't appear to hit the limits. My guess is the EMF shielding is lacking in these cameras when it comes to the internal MIC circuitry. This was the first pop in a video I noticed in several dozen, since getting the replacement.
