Pop Up Flash Stuck on 600D

MartynHill

Hi,

My 600D pop up flash is stuck in the closed position and I do not want to force it open and break the holding clips

I have tried the camera in a dark room to get the flash to self open, I have tried the flash button, I have tried to see if there is a blockage in the foot mount of the external flash and none of these work to alleviate the problem

What is there I can still try?

There is a sensor underneath the hot shoe. That detects if an external speedlite is attached. If this sensor is stuck it prevents the built in flash from popping up. Also what mode are you shooting in. In the Creative Zone (M, Av, TV, P) the flash must be popped up manually. In the Basic Zone (A+, CA) the flash pops up automatically except in No Flash Mode.

Hi, I have tried all these and the hot shoe sensor is free.

What mode are you shooting in. In M, Av, TV, P (Creative Zone) or the (Basic Zone) A+, CA, Mountain, Sports, ECT. Have you manually tried popping up the flash with the button.

When the camera tries to pop up the flash use your fingernail to gently help it. This works very well most times. When you get it to pop up clean the linkage with some denatured alcohol and a q-tip.
