I am looking for a 600mm zoom lens to fit my Canon Rebel T7 camera. I can find ones with an RF mounting, but I believe I need an EF mounting

What is your budget for a lens and why do you need a 600mm lens. Would you like a lens that zooms to 600mm or non zoom (prime) lens. Canon does have the EF 600mm prime lens.

Budget would be around $1000, i would like to zoom to 600mm and I am using this for birding.

Look into a Tamron or Sigma 150-600mm lens for Canon EF Mount.

Being more specific, the best one of the bunch today is the Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di VC USD G2. It is closer to $1500 than $1000 new, however. Tamron made another model before this newer G2 model, it is not as good as the G2. If you decide to go Tamron make sure you get the G2. Sigma makes two models the C and the S. The S is a full on professional lens and the C is their lesser consumer model. If you can not buy the Tamron G2, I would buy the Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary model but it, too, is more than a $1000 new.

As far as I know none of these have an RF version ,"I can find ones with an RF mounting, but I believe I need an EF mounting." They all are EF mount if made for Canon.

Just as an addendum, my personal favorite and the one I use all the time is the Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Sports Lens. It is a full on professional lens and fits my requirements and lifestyle perfectly. It is big, it is heavy and it is fantastic!
