Eos r7 lens

To all I have an r7 with the 18-150 and I bought the 100-400 lens.  Here is the issue.  The photos I take with the 18-150 lens are terrible.  I use the setup outside 90 percent of the time.  For my sons sports.  Money aside, is there is a better lens that I can get to suit my purpose? Me spending 3k for a lens is a drop in the bucket when my grandkids are able to look at the pictures.  Also what terrible means is blurry, grainy, and lots of shadows.  Most of the time I can’t use the 100-400 lens because I am too close.  Any advice.

Welcome.   I have a few questions.

What sport(s) are we talking about?

Indoor or outdoor sports?  Day or night?

What is your shooting location for each sport?

Could post a sample of a “terrible” photo, complete with EXIF data and exposure settings.  Thanks, in advance.

So I would like to post the pictures just don't want to do it in a public forum because it is both of my sons.  If you want to PM me, I can contact you by phone.  If I have to buy lenses for my camera I will.  I reallly don't want to uprade the body due to due it is more than I will ever use.  At this point, I am willing to talk to someone about best way to shoot and lenses!!!!!!!

I fully understand.  You can take some test shots without minors, if you want.  A family dog running around would work.

What’s more important for now is answering the questions as best you can.
