I have an EOS Rebel XS which is about 4 years old. I just use it mainly for family activities. It takes good pictures and I'm quite satisfied with it but my lens just stopped working. I was looking into the ef-s 24mm pancake lens to replace it. Is this lens compatible with my camera. I have been reading on some articles about the lens and some say it is compatible and some say it isn't. Any inputs?

Yes, it is compatible. Any Canon EF or EF-S lens can be used on your camera.
Just keep in mind that 24mm is not very wide and you may find yourself wishing you had bought a zoom lens like the 18-55mm.
