EOS R6 freezing intermittently. A heat issue?

Hi,

I recently purchased an EOSR6. Up until today, it's operated flawlessly. I'm using it to shoot a legal deposition. It froze several times, for a second, then it just froze and I had to ask to stop the proceeding to figure it out. I thought it might be a card issue, so switched cards, but when we started up again, it froze again. I'm currently still recording, and it's still freezing. When I stop recording for a moment, then restart, it unfreezes. I've been using the camera all day. I read a previous forum which suggested firmware upgrade, etc., but can't implement those fixes at the moment. Is it possibly a heat issue?

Greetings ,

Upgrading firmware is not usually the first thing you want to do when you're experiencing a problem.  For thoroughness what version are you running now?

What shooting mode are you capturing in?  Both the R5 and R6 can experience shooting limitations due to heat.

What lens are you shooting with?  What brand size, and type of card are you using?  What power source(s) are you using?

Do you have any accessories, microphone, lens adapter, etc connected?

I'm surprised you're using the R6 for depositions given it's 29 minute 59 second recording limit.  I know it's possible to start shooting again. However, it would be some extra work.
