I have been using the R5 mark ii (firmware v1.0.2) for about a month.
For about two weeks after purchase I used the camera extensively, especially in the first week, and with the supplied battery (LP-E6P) I was able to get a full day's shooting. Sometimes this was as many as 1000 shots (electronic shutter) on a single charge.
But last weekend I discovered the that the battery had drained over just two hours with almost no action (maybe 50 shots). I was not conscious of having changed any settings.
I have the Power Saving menu (under yellow menu) set to [Screen Dimmer 15sec] and [Viewfinder off 1min]. But when using the LP-E6P the EVF/Screen does not obey the selections. The screen does not dim, and the EVF does not turn off.
The really bizarre thing is that when I use a LP-E6NH battery (from my older R6 that the R5ii is replacing) the power saving works exactly as expected -- the screen dims after 15 seconds and the camera goes into standby with EVF off after 1min. The *only* difference is which battery I am using. I therefore get better battery life from the older battery which doesn't support the full functionality of the camera.
Has anyone else seen this behavior and/or know how to fix?
Thx, IanR
