Hello,
I just purchased a Canon R5 Mark II and I'm having a lot of fun with it.
I have a question that I hope you all can help me with.
I'm photographing still images. But when I go to preview the images using the Playback button, the message "Mode Movie still switching" appears on the screen. It only happens the first time I use the Playback button after turning on the camera. But it's annoying and I don't know what it means.
Can anyone tell me how to disable this message?
Thank you!
Mary

I have the r1 and it also displays the movie-still prompt when first pushing playback . If you push mode button it will switch between movie playback or still pictures playback…. Very cool I think! Also when reviewing pictures you can use that same mode dial to zoom in on photo (dial to the right)and if you turn that mode dial to the left it displays on first click to the left last 4 pictures, and two clicks to the left displays last 9 pictures … and three clicks displays last 25 picture …. Etc. These cameras have so much technology it’s crazy man! Ken Miks

Good information, but nothing to do with the OPs question.
If you haven’t got around this issue yet, and this sounded odd to me, but try lowering the movie settings when you’re taking stills. For example if the camera is set to 4k drop it down to 2K and a low frame rate. And the same for HD.
See if that helps. I think the camera just assumes the play button -and for that matter just turning the camera on- is only for movies. Apparently t’s a warning about possible overheating, which makes no sense to me in so many ways!
