EOS 5D Mark III not working with Nissin Di622 flash

Hey guys As the title suggests the Di622 Speedlite I recently bought doesn't seem to be working with my Canon Eos 5d Mark III camera. I've tried updating the firmware but that doesn't seem to help, any tips or suggestions? Or have I bought the wrong flash?

Greetings,

I would recommend buying and using a Canon flash.  3rd party flash units do not use the same communication standards and often cannot be configured in the camera's menus.

What do you mean by "doesn't work".

I suggest you contact who made your flash.

Under what condition is it not working? At any time? In Live View mode?

Non-Canon flashes, even those that are "Canon-compatible" generally, do not normally fire when in Live View. Some cameras have a function called "Silent Shooting" that has to be disabled for a non-Canon flash to fire in Live View mode.

Also, some non-Canon flashes just don't work as expected. The Nissin Di622 is 15 years old and may have this problem.

See your 5D Mk III manual (you DO have it, don't you?). Page 191-192 points this out.
