Hi, I purchased a dead 1300D . The issue was the internal cell battery on the power board. I’ve cleaned the corrosion, repaired the damage and some other issues. The camera is like new and inside and out. My issue is what is the cell battery ? I have ordered MS614SE-FL28E - 6.8mm cell 3 V - 3.4mAh lithium rechargeable. I think that’s right but my battery was too far gone to read. Can anyone confirm or suggest a better battery if it’s a known issue!?
Regards Dan.

Internal batteries growing old and losing the ability to charge is certainly a known issue. The cure is to have the camera serviced professionally to replace the built-in battery. But that is not always possible or feasible costwise.
A problem with do-it-youself is the internal batteris are not necessarily matchable to a readily-available battery. Is the battery you mention a Canon part number?
This is odd to begin with. Lithium cells don't typically corrode. But if you have damage to the circuit board, the camera may be a goner.

I agree and corrode is an understatement! I wish I took pictures. The corrosion even got (residue under the hot shoe) outside the housing . The screws looked mint on the outside rusted on the inside. Everything had white powder/residue . The battery holder was off the board completely buried in green gunk all from the battery. Ram chip was shorted with big lump of corrosion, traces where damaged.A bunch of small components were buried in green residue. I fixed all that, the board is like new now and components are testing good with a multimeter. All the fuse resisters are good and at stated values. This leads me to believe the battery did just leak and there was no power when this happened. Fingers crossed 🤞. I have found the answer it is the battery I need I’m certain. They have about ten different names different manufacturers use different names for the same part. Thanks for the tips .

Greetings ,
A failed energy cell would probably not keep the camera from functioning, but you would lose the date and time every time you powered off the device. Have you tried to power up the camera?
We hope you are successful, but would hate for you to replace that battery and have the camera not turn on. Considering the amount of corrosion / damage you subscribed even if cleaned up, I think you're going to need a certain degree of luck. Fingers crossed for you. 🤞

Yes it could have further damage. Luckily it was picked up cheap . I knew it was a gamble. One thing it shows it’s IMPORTANT to change a failed or failing clock battery . They should last years but if yours does start to fail get it changed! By leaving it dead the camera will still try putting voltage into it . It’s bound to leak sooner or later .

Thanks Rick , I kept thinking about what you said and checked everything again and again on the power board . Sure enough I found two diodes one with no reading at all the other seems to be a bit high both ways! . I haven’t tested them out of circuit as removing them is going to be tricky as their right next to plastic connectors, I’m sure your correct though it should boot still even without a clock battery. I’ll get them off later and see if their bad or not. My replacement battery doesn’t come for another week or so, gives me time to play. Failing that a new board/ boards. I could just get a new camera but I’ve grown attached to this one now!!
