Cleaning contacts on Canon 7D

I hhave a Canon 7D and an error 1 message to clean contacts. I can't find anything on it in the book and have seen all sorts of ways on utube, etc. Does anyone know what Canon suggests?

I have no idea how Canon does it nor what they recommend but if you read the second paragraph under Rear Elements here you may be set to go.
