Canon R1X, the new game changer.

Fot all those that have been complaining that the new R1 only has 24.2 MP, you better hold on to your pants cause rumors have it that Canon will be annoucing, sometime in late August, the new monster MP flagship camera 👻.  The new Canon R1X/R1S will be the new "High Resolution Monster" Canon flagship !  If you want to learn more click on the link below:

https://youtu.be/ksJJEARUv9E?si=JnAyreRmUdJuNFNT

This will be the monster that everyone has been waiting for.  This monster will push aside all the arguments about Nikon Z8 and Z9, and Sony Alpha 1 being better than Canon EOS R1s.  So now it all makes sense, that Canon introduced the R1 with 24.2MP specifically for the photo journalists and the sport reporters before the Olimpics.  Now it will introduce the monster that will be the all in one camera for everyone, that will goble up the competition.   I'm hearing with maybe 80MP and global shutter sensor,  now that's bold.  Can't wait ! ! !

What do you think about this news ?

Cheers,
Joe

I doubt it will be announced in August. I'm guessing we have to wait about a year. They want to clear out the R1's that already were produced and they don't want to eat into their R5 II sales. I'm also not confident that they even had an R1x/R1s in the works. I think the push-back on the R1 specs maybe will get them to basically place an R5 II sensor in an R1 body (which would be perfectly fine with me at this point). I was hoping for something like 60mp. This effectively allow for a 60mp RAW, 40mp mRAW, 20mp sRAW which would allow for fairly ideal flexibility. But I think that's a fantasy at this point. I'm guessing it will just be something like a 48mp camera which still gives us about a 30mp mRAW and 15mp sRAW. I think it will just be the R5 II's sensor with a few boosts. I'll take it!

RobertStone,

It is a rumor, nothing more, nothing less.  However, the message that it conveys is that Canon isn't done yet and there will be a higher than 45MP R1 type camera coming.   Also, when the high-resolution monster is introduced, it will not compete with the R5 Mark II as there will be a bigger price tag for it, a bigger difference between the two. Higher than the USD $2000.00 price difference that the R1 and the R5 Mark II have at the moment.  R5 Mark II is USD $4,299.00 and the R1 is USD $6,299.00 therefore they're for two different budget constraints or markets.  Not everyone will want to spend as much, unless they are professionals making a living from photography. The R5 Mark II 45MP Sensor suits my needs.  When one thinks about higher MP resolutions than one must also take into account that it will cost more.  One pays more for improved technology, better performance and quality, always.

Cheers,
Joe

Well Canon can't even fulfill the items they have announced/released so I'm not sure how excited I would get about this announcement. The R1 and R5 MkII have already been added as a "we will ship as available". And while they say they apologize they really give nothing more then a generic " Currently, we are experiencing delays in delivery for the following products due to orders exceeding our expectations and also due to the impact of global parts supply."

In the past a business strategy would be to complete a sales projection analysis based on historical data from past years and YOY sales increases, add a few points. Based on those numbers purchase the materials in advance to manufacturer the asset and distribute it to retailers. All this should happen prior to the announcement and would result in a business having the ability to fulfill orders in mass almost instantaneously.

Apologies and information regarding product supply status

With the apology Canon should also be providing the estimated monthly product availability for each of the items to their consumer. Right now we hear crickets.

March411,

Yeah, I've read some of those posts on YouTube  !   I'm glad that I preordered my Canon R5 Mark II the morning after it was announced.  The minute that the "Preorder" icon showed on the Canon Website.   My order should be in the first batch to be shipped.   Woo-hoo  !   I get exited just thinking about it !   😆

The preorders for the R5 Mark II are the highest that Canon has ever received, higher than the R5 when it first came out on July 9, 2020, four years ago!  Some that I know ordered two R5 Mark II..   😆  I don't think that Canon was prepared for such an overwhelming response for the EOS R5 Mark II. 😀

And that is the issue, they are consistently unprepared even though their historical market trends/sales are an indication that their forecasting has been to conservative. Their staff in forecasting, procurement, marketing and their sales analysts should be unemployed because they are obviously failing to do their jobs competently.

Under promise and over deliver used to be a staple of business, mostly resulting in consumer satisfaction. Now you are expected to purchase something not knowing when you will receive it due to poor business practices and incompetence. Or be first in line and cross your fingers 😁

It’s on purpose. By creating a restraint they are creating fake demand. This causes more “buzz” and makes the camera seem more desirable leading to more purchases over time. It’s all marketing / sale strategy. It’s a trick.

They wouldn’t need to trick the consumer if the product were better.

The R1/R3 are missing key features that modern commercial photo buyers expect (mainly higher MP) and the R5 is missing key features that pros would want that the higher R3/1 have. This leads to many consumers also buying both… leading to more sales (in theory).

I would gladly pay $6,500-$7,000 for an R1s with 45-65mp. I refuse to buy either the R1 or R5 II because neither have the right stuff. I bought a refurbished R3 as the price was decent. But it’s a stop-gap for (hopefully) an R1s announcement next year once the R5 II / R1 buyers purchases trickle down and they want to re-up that cash flow.
