Hi everyone,
I'm using the Canon EOS R50 as a streaming camera for OBS via UVC mode. After updating to macOS v26 (Tahoe) on my MacBook M3 Pro, the camera is no longer working correctly.
Issue Details
- The Mac detects the camera as “Canon Digital Camera”, but fails to initialize the video feed.
- The camera stays in STBY (standby) mode, even after selecting it as the source in OBS.
- I was able to get it working once after a full system restart, but:
- If I disconnect the camera or switch sources, it gets stuck in STBY again.
- Only a full restart temporarily resolves the issue.
Tested Setup
- macOS v26 (Tahoe) – issue occurs.
- macOS v15 (Sequoia) – UVC mode works perfectly (tested on a different device).
- Canon EOS R50 Firmware – tested on both v1.4.0 and v1.1.0.
- Camera is set to Movie Mode with USB connection set to “Video calls/streaming”.
Has anyone found a workaround or patch for this issue on macOS Tahoe? Any help or insights would be appreciated!
