Canon EF 50mm 1.8 STM Lens issue

Hi Im looking for any answers to this unusual situation...just got a Canon EOS30V film camera as it takes the EF lenses that I use with my Canon 5d mk2. The odd thing is it works great with my Canon EF 24mm lens but is not even recognising the 50mm 1.8 STM lens. Both lenses are fine on the 5d.

I have tried cleaning the contacts - no chnage

Am I missing something really obvious?

I have the EOS 7NE which is the same camera as the 30V,  and I also have two different EF50mm f/1.8 STM lenses.

Both lenses work perfectly well with the EOS 7NE so you must have some kind of a contact problem with either the camera or the lens.
